The Revolution of Science Through Scuba

The Smithsonian Institution, the National Science Foundation, and the Ocean Studies Board of the National Research Council announce a symposium in May 2010 to celebrate the scientific contributions and value of scuba as research methodology. http://www.si.edu/sds/

The symposium will present research findings by U.S. scholars and international collaborators with particular focus on the scientific contributions accomplished by placing the trained scientific eye into the underwater environment on self-contained compressed gas. This symposium is the first major effort to highlight and validate the use of scuba as research methodology.
